GOwithHIPPO Travel (“GOwithHIPPO”, “we”, “us”, “our”) is a Canadian host travel agency. We respect your privacy and take the protection of your personal information seriously. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have about your data.
This policy applies to information we collect through our recruitment platform at apply.gowithhippo.ca, our website at gowithhippo.ca, and any related communications.
Information we collect
When you interact with us, we may collect:
- Contact information — your name, email address, phone number, and province of residence.
- Professional background — your travel-industry experience, motivations, and other application responses.
- Identity verification information — required for criminal record checks and credit inquiries (e.g., date of birth, address history, government-issued identifiers as required by our background-check provider).
- Payment information — collected and processed by our payment provider, Stripe. We do not store your full credit card number on our systems.
- Communication records — emails you send us, replies to our automated emails, and support requests.
- Technical information — IP address, browser type, device information, and basic usage analytics necessary to operate the platform.
How we use your information
We use the information we collect to:
- Process your application to join the GOwithHIPPO herd
- Conduct criminal record checks and soft credit inquiries required for membership
- Communicate with you about your application, our services, and relevant industry information
- Process payments for the startup fee and monthly access fees
- Provide ongoing support and training resources to active agents
- Comply with legal, regulatory, and tax obligations in Canada
- Improve our recruitment and onboarding experience
Who we share your information with
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with the third-party service providers we rely on to operate our business:
- Clerk — handles authentication for our internal admin team. Stores account credentials securely.
- Stripe— processes payments. Subject to Stripe’s own privacy policy.
- Resend — delivers our transactional and promotional emails.
- Neon — hosts our application database (servers located in North America).
- Vercel — hosts our application infrastructure.
- Background-check providers — conduct the criminal record check and credit inquiry required for HIPPO membership. They may share results with us.
- TravelSavers — our travel consortium, once you become an active agent, for the purpose of supplier registration and commission processing.
We may also disclose information when required by law, to comply with a legal process, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of GOwithHIPPO, our agents, our clients, or others.
Where your information is stored
Your information is stored on servers operated by our service providers, primarily in Canada and the United States. By using our services, you consent to the transfer of your information across borders for the purpose of processing it.
How long we keep your information
We keep your personal information only as long as we need it to provide our services and meet our legal obligations. If your application is unsuccessful or you withdraw, we typically retain your contact information and application data for up to 24 months unless you ask us to delete it sooner. Records related to active and previous agents are retained for the period required by Canadian tax and travel-industry regulations, typically seven years.
Your rights
Under Canadian privacy law (PIPEDA and applicable provincial legislation), you have the right to:
- Ask what personal information we hold about you
- Request a correction to inaccurate information
- Withdraw consent for our use of your information (subject to legal and contractual restrictions)
- Request deletion of your information
- File a complaint with our Privacy Officer (see Contact below)
- File a complaint with the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada
Email communications
When you submit an Expression of Interest or application, you consent to receive related emails from us under Canada’s Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL). You can unsubscribe from any non-transactional email at any time by replying to the email or by contacting us directly. Transactional emails (e.g., payment confirmations, application status updates) will continue until your account is closed.
Cookies
Our platform uses essential cookies to maintain your sign-in session and remember your preferences. We do not use advertising or third-party tracking cookies. By using our site, you consent to our use of essential cookies.
Children’s privacy
Our services are not intended for individuals under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe we have collected information from a minor, please contact us immediately.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top will reflect the most recent revision. Material changes will be communicated by email to active agents and applicants.
